Roles and responsibilities
Soccer director (year around) – represents the program on the Board of Directors. The main responsibility is to make sure there is a functional team of volunteers needed to run all soccer programs: youth soccer, mini-soccer, soccer camps and so on. The soccer director also manages the program’s budget which includes revenue from registrations and expenses related to maintenance and equipment, field and gym permits. The soccer director will be required to attend district and league meetings to represent the program to the various soccer organizations like WSEU, WYSA, MSA and other community centres.
Mini-soccer director (March-June) – operates the mini soccer (ages 3-8) program in Whyte Ridge. The main responsibility is to make sure there is a functional team of volunteers needed to run the mini-soccer program(s). The mini-soccer director reports to the Soccer director and keeps track of the program’s expenses. The mini-soccer director may be required to attend internal meetings within the Whyte Ridge soccer team.
Technical (sports) director/manager (April-July) – provides coach and player support during the session. Extensive coaching experience is required. TD will be working with the group of volunteers and staff to establish a framework for our soccer programs, possibly extending it into other sports as well.
Administrator/registrar (year around part-time) – Â The main responsibility is to support coaches, make sure they have valid certifications to coach as required by Canada Soccer and our Quality Soccer Provider status. The administrator reports to the Soccer director and will be required to attend internal meetings within the Whyte Ridge Soccer team.
Equipment managers (March, April and October) – look after the equipment for the mini soccer (ages 3-8) or youth soccer (ages 9-18) as well as the fields where games and practices are held. The responsibilities include making sure that the soccer equipment is ready before the start of the season, distributing it to the team coaches, collecting and storing it in the storage at the end of the season, soccer nets replaced as needed and fields marked properly. For youth soccer, the equipment manager will also be responsible for ordering new uniform kits for each team hosted by Whyte Ridge. Equipment managers report to the Soccer director and keep track of the program’s expenses related to field maintenance and equipment.
- Please note that a large vehicle or a trailer, as well as a place for temporary storage, will be required.
Youth soccer convener (during registration March-April and September-October) – is mainly responsible to help with the registration process, finding coaches and facilitating their certification, forming teams and assigning players to the team’s rosters. The youth soccer convener reports to the Soccer director and the mini-soccer convener reports to the Mini-soccer director. The youth soccer convener will be required to attend internal meetings within the Whyte Ridge Soccer team as well as inner district meetings within South Winnipeg community clubs.
