Indoor soccer season is well underway. Our indoor soccer teams took advantage of the beautiful late fall weather and were able practice outside well into the indoor season. We are practicing in our weekly gym spaces now and enjoying the occasional practice at the south indoor soccer complex at the University of Manitoba. Thank you to our sponsors Linden Ridge Orthodontics and Arthur J Gallagher for the support that allows us to provide this amazing practice experience for our indoor teams. Please visit our sponsors on the Soccer page.
2017 was another great year for Mini Soccer in Whyte Ridge.
We had nearly 300 players aged 3 to 8 years old and 60 volunteer coaches. It was wonderful to see the players enjoying themselves and to see how supportive parents are of their teams and of this program.
We need to give a special thank you to all coaches. Mini soccer would not exist without your dedication. We always smiled when watching how engaged you are with your players. We will sincerely miss the U7/8 coaches whose children are aging out of Mini Soccer. We have enjoyed working with you and getting to know you. We hope to see the rest of you next season.
What an incredible summer we have had! By now, the U13-U18 outdoor teams will be participating in city-wide playoffs. Best of luck to all teams and hopefully Whyte Ridge will be well-represented on championship weekend at John Blumberg September 23-24. Thank you to all volunteer U9-U18 coaches for their time and effort to make the Whyte Ridge soccer program such a success.
Indoor soccer registration will commence September 4 and will end September 16. Watch our website for registration information and the fences around the neighbourhood for the soccer registration signs. Whyte Ridge offers recreational indoor soccer for U9 to U18. Indoor soccer is a great way to stay in soccer shape during our cold months. We are fortunate to have three beautiful indoor facilities in Winnipeg. Thank you to our sponsors Linden Ridge Orthodontics and Arthur Gallagher Insurance for continuing their support. We were able to purchase practice time at the U of M indoor facility for the teams last season due to our sponsors’ support. Please return the favour by supporting their businesses when you can.
We still need to fill the U5 Coed and U7/8 Boys Convenor positions
Whyte Ridge Mini-Soccer is run completely by volunteers – from the directors, to the coaches and equipment managers. Convening is a great role within this dedicated group. It is a way to give back to a soccer program (and to our community) which has done so much for our children. Without volunteers, we would not have mini-soccer in Whyte Ridge.
Convening involves attending one meeting in February, making teams after registration in March, distributing equipment to coaches in April and then sending emails to organize coaches in the spring. We have all of the information you need, and we will support you with this work as much as you like throughout the season. And … conveners can also be coaches! If you don’t want to miss out on coaching, it is possible to do both!
Please email the mini-soccer directors with questions about this position at firstname.lastname@example.org
