Hello everyone.
As some of you may remember, Whyte Ridge CC tried to run its own drop-in badminton program a few years ago. Unfortunately, it didn’t generate much interest.
Last year, before all this madness started, we approached the Manitoba Badminton Association (https://www.badminton.mb.ca/) and they agreed to start planning a new program in Whyte Ridge. We will be working with the Pembina Trails School Division to secure practice space once a new school year begins and we are looking for passionate individuals who can facilitate running this program and coordinating between all parties. MBA handles all registration and coaching as part of their Developmental Program, as outlined by one of its organizers:
MBA’s Developmental Winter Program is a program that is coach led which allows the kids to learn badminton skills and improve while having fun at it. Our coaches are often former top junior players in the province so they bring a lot of experience to the kids. As well many of the kids that start out in our DWP programs go on to play at clubs and some of them become the elite athletes in the province.
Winter program? Now? Yes, it may sound a bit too early but there is a lot work to do in preparation for this program that has not been offered in our community before. We are very excited about it and we are expecting to begin registration in September. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Kirill Pirgalin – acting programming director of Whyte Ridge at communications@whyteridge.ca
Thank you. Have a great summer everyone!
