Summer sports update

Hello everyone, we hope you’ve been enjoying the summer! Here is some new information we wanted to share with you.

Soccer

At this time (mid-August) we have finished our mini soccer and U9-U12 season. I hope you all enjoyed it and we are looking to seeing you back in the spring.

U13-U18 teams will start playoffs in September and we wish all our teams and players good luck!

RDT Mini Soccer, who has been with us for more than 5 years, completed its first-week camp with nearly 30 participants and their second week is expected to have over 40 participants.

Indoor soccer registration is scheduled to begin in mid-September. Look for updates on our website https://whyteridge.ca/sports/soccer and around the community!

Volleyball

Last year our community centre ran a small co-ed camp for grade 8-10 students who wanted to improve their skills and be ready for tryouts in competitive programs like 204 or Bisons. This year we are planning to offer it again. The time and location will be provided in September based on the instructors’ availability. If interested, please email programming@whyteridge.ca and we will contact you once we have the details confirmed.

Badminton

Our badminton program is growing, thanks to coach Mano Navarro. We are in the process of obtaining required permits at schools. The schedule, together with registration links, will be posted at the beginning of September. We are planning again to offer the Fall, Winter and Spring sessions once or twice a week for younger players as well as adults if we have enough interest. More information will be posted on our Badminton program’s page in the upcoming weeks – https://whyteridge.ca/sports/badminton/.

Archery

WRCC recently started a pilot archery program also led by Mano Navarro. So far we had a very good turnout and if you want to participate in this activity during Fall/Winter/Spring season, please let us know. Please send an email to programming@whyteridge.ca with your request.
