Whyte Ridge Mini Soccer Rules

Rules of Play for U7/8 Whyte Ridge Mini Soccer

  1. Fields should be measured 25 paces by 40 paces.
  2. Games should be played 5 on 5 or 6 on 6, including goalkeepers. Coaches decide each day.
  3. If the ball is kicked out a sideline, a player from the team which did not kick it out throws it in.
  4. If the ball is kicked out of an end line, the goalkeeper will kick, throw or roll it back into play.
  5. There are no corner kicks or headers. These should not be part of practices or games.
  6. Players should not push or trip anyone. Encourage ball handling and playing with feet and not hands.
  7. If players use their hands or foul in any other way, coaches will tell them about it (educate players) and then continue with the game.
  8. Whistles are blown for player shift changes. This should be about every 3 minutes. Do not blow whistles for balls being kicked off of the field.
  9. If there is a significant injury, play will stop. Common sense should be used. Coaches can sub in other players if a minor injury happens during a shift.
  10. Games end with high 5s and “Good Game” compliments for the opposing team.

Rules of Play for U5/6 Whyte Ridge Mini Soccer

  1. Fields should be measured 20 paces by 40paces.
    2. Games should be played 4 on 4 or 5 on 5. Coaches decide each day.
    3. There are no goalkeepers, so players should not position themselves right in the net. Coaches should tell players to play as defenders if they players go in the net.
    4. If the ball is kicked out a sideline, a player from the team which did not kick it out will kick it in.
    5. If the ball is kicked out of an end line, a coach will choose any player to kick it back into play.
    6. Do not push or trip anyone. Encourage ball handling and playing with feet and not hands.
    7. Whistles are blown for player shift changes. Do not blow whistles for balls being kicked off of the field.
    8. Headers should not be used or practiced at this level.
    9. Do not keep score.
    10. Games end with high 5s and “Good Game” compliments for the opposing team.

Rules of Play for U3/4 Whyte Ridge Mini Soccer

  1. Fields should be measured 10 paces by 20 paces.
  2. Games should be played 3 on 3.
  3. There are no goalkeepers, so players should not position themselves right in the net.
  4. If the ball is kicked anywhere off of the field, a coach will choose any player to kick it or dribble it back into play. It is a good idea to choose players who do not have a lot of ball time during the game.
  5. Do not push or trip anyone. Encourage ball handling and playing with feet and not hands.
  6. Whistles are blown for player shift changes. Do not blow whistles for balls being kicked off of the field.
  7. Headers must not be used or practiced at this level.
  8. Do not keep score.
  9. Games end with high 5s and “Good Game” compliments for the opposing team.
