Badminton

Program Description

• Our badminton program is for children, youth and adults who want to learn basic skills of the game and to improve what they already know.
• The program is offered by a certified coach with many years of experience in various programs offered by the Manitoba Badminton Association and the City of Winnipeg Leisure Guide.
• The program is operated via Whyte Ridge Community Centre in partnership with Pembina Trails school division in the nearby school gyms. Last day of the program players will play “doubles”, location to be announced.
• Equipment requirements: Player must bring their own indoor shoes, sports clothes and badminton racket.

Winter/Spring 2024

Youth Program

• 10 – 16 players per session, ages 10 – 14
• Skill requirements: minimum badminton proficiency
• Dates: Thursdays starting February 29th (14 Sessions)
• Location: Whyte Ridge Elementary (400 Scurfield Blvd.)
• Time: 6:00 – 7:30 pm
• Cost: $120

Ages 14+ Program

• 10 – 16 players per session, ages 14+. Parents are welcome to join their children in the class.
• Skill requirements: must be proficient or confident to perform
  1. Backhand service short
  2. Net shots, lifts, drives in forehand and backhand strokes
  3. Ample knowledge of Rules to play Singles and/or Doubles.
• Dates: Tuesdays starting February 27th (14 sessions)
• Location: Whyte Ridge Elementary (400 Scurfield Blvd.)
• Time: 7:30 – 9:00 pm
• Cost: $120

Registration

Registration is now closed.  To enter the registration system please select the Register Now button at the bottom of this page.  If you do not already have accounts, you will be asked to create one for each child (or children) and yourself as parent or guardian.  Please select the corresponding registration package for your child.  Registration is not considered complete until payment has been made.  If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact the WRCC Program Manager at programming@whyteridge.ca.

Payments

Payments can be made online via credit card or offline (e-transfer or cheque) by selecting Invoice during registration.

1. E-transfers

Please sign in to your online banking system and select INTERAC* payments/money transfers. Use payment@whyteridge.ca as payee and include the payment amount for the registration.

• Please add program name AND the player name(s) in the notes section.

2. Cheques

Cheques payable to WHYTE RIDGE COMMUNITY CENTRE can be dropped off in the Community Centre, 170 Fleetwood Road, Winnipeg, R3Y 1R3.  Please email the Whyte Ridge treasurer at treasurer@whyteridge.ca, to make arrangements for in-person payment and receipt.

Whyte Ridge Community Badminton Cancellation and Refund Policy

If a program is cancelled, a refund or credit to your registration will be provided.

• Refunds before deadline: Full
  
• Refunds within the two weeks of start date: 60% (gym time, coaching fee, administration)
• No Refunds after two weeks from the start date.
