Seeking interested coaches for 2024 Winter Youth Badminton

Our badminton program is for children, youth and adults who want to learn basic skills of the game and to improve what they already know.

Program Description

  • The program is offered by a certified coach with many years of experience in various programs offered by the Manitoba Badminton Association and the City of Winnipeg Leisure Guide.
  • The program is operated via Whyte Ridge Community Centre in partnership with Pembina Trails school division in the nearby school gyms. Last day of the program players will play “doubles”, location to be announced.
  • Equipment requirements: Player must bring their own indoor shoes, sports clothes and badminton racket.

Winter 2024

Youth Program

  • 10 – 16 players per session, ages 10 – 14
  • Skill requirements: minimum badminton proficiency
  • Classes: TBD
    • Subject to change based on permit availability.
  • Location: Dalhousie School (262 Dalhousie Dr.)
  • Time: 6:00-7:00 PM
  • Cost: TBD

Ages 14+ Program

  • 10 – 16 players per session, ages 14+. Parents are welcome to join their children in the class.
  • Skill requirements: must be proficient or confident to perform
    1. Backhand service short
    2. Net shots, lifts, drives in forehand and backhand strokes
    3. Ample knowledge of Rules to play Singles and/or Doubles.
  • Classes: TBD (Mondays, February 19 – March 11, 2024 ?)
    • Subject to change based on permit availability
  • Location: Pacific Junction school Gym (715 Cathcart St),
  • Time: 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Payments

Payments can be made online via credit card or offline (cheque or e-transfer) by selecting Invoice during the registration.

1. E-transfers

Please sign in to your online banking system and select INTERAC* payments/money transfers. Use payment@whyteridge.ca as payee and include the payment amount for the registration.

  • Please add program name AND the player name(s) in the notes section.

2. Cheques

Cheques payable to WHYTE RIDGE COMMUNITY CENTRE can be dropped off in the Community Centre, 170 Fleetwood Road, Winnipeg, R3Y 1R3. If you must pay by cash, please email Whyte Ridge treasurer at treasurer@whyteridge.ca to make arrangements for in-person payment and receipt.

    • Please add program name AND the player name(s) in the cheque.

Whyte Ridge Community Cancellation and Refund Policy

If a program is cancelled a refund or credit to your registration will be provided. Registration fees are non-refundable after the 2nd class. For team sports no refunds will be given once teams are formed.  Requests for refunds 7 days prior to the start of a program will be subject to a $25 administration fee.  If participants cannot complete a significant portion of their program because they are moving out of Winnipeg or have sustained an injury that will prevent them from completing in the program please submit a request to programming@whyteridge.ca for review. Refunds for other reasons not stated above may be granted at the discretion of WRCC. The portion of a program’s fees deemed to be administration fees, team registration or attributed to non-returnable equipment, will not be eligible for refund and will be retained by WRCC.
