A Quick Guide for Parents & Coaches

Welcome to Whyte Ridge Soccer! Our goal is to provide a fun, inclusive, and positive soccer experience where players develop their skills, build friendships, and enjoy the game.

All WRCC teams follow the rules established by the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association (WYSA).

1. Team Communication – RAMP Team App

The RAMP Team App is our primary communication tool. All parents are encouraged to install it and stay connected throughout the season.

2. League Rules & Player Rosters

Important: Maximum roster sizes and other match requirements vary by age group. Refer to the current WYSA rules for complete details.

Guest Players

Guest players help teams participate when regular players are unavailable.

• Players must meet WYSA age and division eligibility requirements.
• See WYSA Website for details on Guest player requirements.

**Guest players must come from the same Member Organization, except where WYSA’s QSP-related exception applies.

3. Game Schedules & Cancellations

Game Schedules

All games must be played as scheduled. Only WYSA can approve schedule changes.

Game Cancellations

• Individual cancellations are communicated directly to affected teams.
• League-wide cancellations are posted on the WYSA website and cancellation line.
• If no cancellation is announced, teams must attend their scheduled game.
• Referees may cancel games when field or weather conditions are unsafe.

Defaults – If your team cannot field enough players, notify WYSA and the opposing coach at least 48 hours before the game.

Unannounced defaults may result in penalties under WYSA regulations.

4. Game Day Responsibilities

Coaches & Team Managers

• Ensure all participating players and team officials are listed on the game sheet.
• Identify guest players with GP on Game sheet.
• Confirm player attendance through RAMP.
• Arrange a parent volunteer to serve as Referee Liaison.
• Submit game scores within 24 hours, where required.

Referee Liaison

Every team must provide a Referee Liaison for each game.

The liaison is responsible for helping maintain respectful behaviour among the team’s spectators and coaches.

Fair Play

At Whyte Ridge Soccer, player development comes before winning.

We encourage coaches to:

• Provide fair and reasonable playing opportunities.
• Promote teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
• Maintain a positive environment for all players.
• Communicate team expectations clearly with parents.

Equal playing time may not always be possible, but all players should have meaningful opportunities to participate.

5. Practices & Field Use

Coaches are responsible for organizing team practices and booking available WRCC fields.

Field Booking Guidelines

• Book practices using WRCC’s Google Calendar system.
• WYSA games always take priority over practices.
• Maximum practice bookings: 75 minutes weekdays / 90 minutes weekends.
• Leave 15 minutes between bookings.
• Respect wet or damaged fields.
• Clean up equipment and garbage after use.
• Cancel bookings that are no longer needed.

6. Discipline & Respect

WRCC expects respectful behaviour from players, coaches, parents, and spectators.

Red Cards & Suspensions

• An ejected player or team official receives an automatic one-game suspension, subject to further disciplinary action.
• Additional penalties may be issued by WYSA or MSA.
• Coaches must notify WYSA Discipline and the WRCC Soccer Director of any red-card incidents.

Respect the Game: Abuse directed toward referees, players, coaches, or spectators is not acceptable.

7. Questions, Concerns & Communication

We encourage parents to communicate openly with their coaching staff.

For concerns, please follow the 24-hour rule before raising an issue.
