Hip Hop Dance, Ages 6 to 10 years

Kids Etc Youth Movement Company (KEYMC) is excited to bring a fun and energetic 10-week Hip Hop program to Whyte Ridge Community Centre!

Designed for children ages 6–10, this program is perfect for dancers who love to move, express themselves, and have fun! Participants will explore age-appropriate hip hop foundations, grooves, rhythm, musicality, and exciting choreography while developing coordination, confidence, and their own individual style. Whether your child is brand new to dance or has some previous experience, our welcoming and encouraging environment offers something for everyone!

Join Fleur Franz as she takes your child on a fun, artistic adventure that keeps in mind our global efforts to reuse and help our environment!

Fleur has experience teaching and making ceramics (WAG), teaching at school and more recently creating art at home with her children. She is a Fine Arts Graduate and hopes to bring her enthusiasm and knowledge into these weekend art classes!

Projects may include decorative decoupage, glass jar lights (festive or spooky), snowglobes, wooden garden animal decoration, rock magnets, printmaking wrapping paper and bags, and batik banners, to name a few. All projects will be using, when possible, recycled materials, and families will be asked to start saving some items from their recycling bin for these art classes.

Learn to Skate, Ages 3 to 14 Years

Discover the joy of outdoor skating right in your neighborhood! Whyte Ridge Community Centre is excited to host beginner-friendly skating lessons on our outdoor rinks. Designed to build confidence, fundamental skills, and a love for winter sports, our small-group classes provide supportive instruction in a fun outdoor setting.

Parent & Tot (Ages 3–5) – 30 minute class

A gentle introduction to the ice for our youngest skaters! Children will practice balance, falling down and standing up safely, and taking their very first strides through playful games. One parent or guardian is required to accompany each child on the ice.

Youth Beginners (Ages 6–10) – 40 minute class

Perfect for kids looking to master the basics of independent skating. Skaters will focus on gliding, stopping, turning, and stride power while building the confidence needed for recreational skating, hockey, or ringette.

Junior Skaters (Ages 11–14) – 40 minute class

Designed for older youth who are new to skating or want to refine their balance, edge control, and stopping power. This session provides age-appropriate skill development in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.

Required Gear: All participants (and parents in Parent & Tot) must have their own skates and a CSA-approved hockey helmet (cages strongly recommended for children). Warm winter layers and thick mittens or gloves are essential.

The Bricks Challenge is an educational program that introduces children to the principles of STEM and basic subjects of classical mechanics through the use of building blocks and mechanical parts. In each session, the day’s model and the day’s engineering principles are introduced. To make the topic more relatable, an interactive story related to the subject is optionally narrated. The children then construct their models, enhance them for further experimentation, and sometimes modify them for competitions.

The AlgoPlay program utilizes the coding language Algobrix®.   Students first assemble a building block model. They then formulate various code sequences using screen function and parameter blocks. By activating the “play” block, the robot executes the coding sequence. When students combine function and parameter blocks, they instruct the robot with specific commands, like moving forward or activating a red light.  AlgoPlay prepares students with the essential skills to grasp the logic behind most modern coding languages.

Lullaland Sensory is a one-of-a-kind sensory class started in Winnipeg in 2019. The program is designed to support child development and parent connection in the early years of a child’s life. Since opening, Lullaland has grown to be the leading baby and toddler program in Canada. Inspired by the research on the benefits of sensory play, Lullaland offers interactive, themed classes that take little ones and their grownups on shared multi-sensory adventures with changing weekly themes.
