Young Engineers, Ages 6 to 10

Young Engineers Fort Garry & River Heights offers engaging STEM programs for kids in Fort Garry, Fort Richmond, Bridgwater, River Heights, Grant Park, and Crescentwood in Winnipeg. Our hands-on engineering classes introduce children to science, technology, engineering, and math through fun building activities and interactive challenges. We help kids develop creativity, problem-solving skills, and confidence as they explore real-world engineering concepts. Join us to spark your child’s curiosity and discover the exciting world of STEM learning.

The Bricks Challenge is an educational program that introduces children to the principles of STEM and basic subjects of classical mechanics through the use of building blocks and mechanical parts. In each session, the day’s model and the day’s engineering principles are introduced. To make the topic more relatable, an interactive story related to the subject is optionally narrated. The children then construct their models, enhance them for further experimentation, and sometimes modify them for competitions.
  • Starting September 14, 2026
    Mondays, 6:00 – 7:00 pm
    Cost: $20 per session
    Location: Whyte Ridge Community Centre
The AlgoPlay program utilizes the coding language Algobrix®.   Students first assemble a building block model. They then formulate various code sequences using screen function and parameter blocks. By activating the “play” block, the robot executes the coding sequence. When students combine function and parameter blocks, they instruct the robot with specific commands, like moving forward or activating a red light.  AlgoPlay prepares students with the essential skills to grasp the logic behind most modern coding languages.
  • Starting September 10, 2026
    Thursdays, 6:00 – 7:00 pm
    Cost: $25 per session
    Location: Whyte Ridge Community Centre
