ESL Conversation Circle
Practice your English speaking and listening skills.

Embark on an exciting 4-week journey designed to ignite your passion for the great outdoors! Candace Csordas’ Wilderness Hike & Skills Program uniquely blends invigorating guided hikes with practical, hands-on survival skills training, creating an experience that’s perfect for beginners and seasoned adventurers alike.
April 15 – May 3, 2025 (4 weeks)
Tuesdays, 7:15 – 9:15 pm
Cost: $100
*Prompt attendance is required as each session will start with the hike.

Survival Basics:
Master the essential techniques you need in the wild—from fire-starting and constructing improvised shelters to managing water resources and learning effective signaling methods for emergencies. -
Gear & Safety:
Discover how to assemble your personal hiking toolkit and understand the purpose and proper use of each item. We’ll share best practices for staying safe while enjoying nature’s beauty. -
Trail Navigation:
Improve your navigational skills with practical lessons in map reading, compass use, and natural landmark identification. All this knowledge is integrated into a scenic 3km hike that showcases the local beauty of our area.

Weekly Sessions:
Every week, a 45-60 minute guided hike paired with a focused survival skills lesson. Each session is designed to build your confidence and competence in outdoor survival. -
Interactive Learning:
Candace’s program is more than just a hike and skill building—it’s an interactive learning experience. She makes it fun and easy to learn! Enjoy detailed resources, engaging handouts, and interactive quizzes that reinforce each skill, ensuring you can apply what you learn in real-life situations. -
A Community Experience:
Candace brings her program specifically to Whyte Ridge Community Center, as this program is about more than just survival skills. It’s a chance to connect with like-minded individuals, share experiences, and build a supportive community of outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy hiking in the wild year round.
