New Off-Leash Dog Park Officially Opens at Whyte Ridge!

by | October 9, 2025

The Whyte Ridge Off‑Leash Dog Park is officially open behind our community centre at 170 Fleetwood Road! This fully fenced, permanent space is ready to welcome pups and their families year-round, with a double-gated entry, shaded benches, waste bins, and enough room for fetch and friendly doggo meetups.

The dog park replaces the seasonal winter dog pen that previously occupied the outdoor rink space and offers a dedicated, permanent spot for pups to play and neighbours to connect.

At the ribbon-cutting event, WRCC President Kirill Pirgalin spoke about the dog park as the latest in a growing list of community-led improvements:

“This dog park wasn’t just another item on a checklist – it was born from a genuine need. For years, residents have asked for a safe, local space for their pets to play. Today, we’re proud to deliver on that.”

Kirill also credited the community’s collaboration with the City of Winnipeg:

“This is just one of the many examples of how strong partnerships with different levels of government allow us to deliver valuable services and amenities for our members.”

The $80,000 project was made possible through funding from the City of Winnipeg’s Land Dedication Reserve, with strong support from Councillor Janice Lukes, who championed the initiative, and who joined us to celebrate the grand opening on July 19.

Councillor Janice Lukes echoed Kirill’s sentiment:

“Dog parks like this one are more than just open spaces and balls to chase; they’re about community,”
“When we bring our dogs here, we’re not just giving them a place to play, we’re giving ourselves a chance to meet the neighbours, build friendships, and connect with others who have the same love and respect for our four‑legged companions.”
