As another busy summer winds down at Whyte Ridge Community Centre, I want to take a moment to look back on a successful season and share what’s on the horizon for our community.
First and foremost, I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to our MP, Ben Carr, for his valuable assistance in helping WRCC secure the Canada Summer Jobs grant. Together with provincial funding programs like Manitoba’s Green Team, these grants are essential to our operations. They allow WRCC to serve as a launchpad for local young adults to gain meaningful work experience and start their careers, all while delivering essential maintenance and operational services back to our local community.
Your Community Recreation Hub:
At WRCC, our goal is to be a welcoming recreation hub for everyone connecting people of all ages, all abilities, and all interests. While programs like soccer bring hundreds of youth and families to our fields every year, our mission goes far beyond any single sport. We are dedicated to offering a space where neighbors can gather, stay active, learn new skills, and build lasting community connections.
Fostering a Respectful & Safe Environment:
To ensure our grounds remain a safe and welcoming space for everyone, we want to remind all residents and visitors of our commitment to a respectful environment. WRCC strictly adheres to our Respectful Workplace and Community Safety Policy (and the General Council of Winnipeg Community Centres Code of Conduct), which requires all visitors, staff, and volunteers to treat one another with dignity, courtesy, and respect. Verbal abuse, harassment, or aggressive behavior toward staff, volunteers, or other visitors will not be tolerated. We ask everyone sharing our facilities (whether on the courts, fields, or inside the building) to model sportsmanship, share spaces respectfully, and help keep WRCC a safe place for all.

- Fall & Winter Program Registration: Details and schedules for fall recreation, fitness, and community programs have been posted on our website. Be sure to register early to secure your spot.
- Facility & Technology Upgrades: We are continuing work behind the scenes on facility improvements to ensure our hall and grounds remain modern, safe, and welcoming for all user groups.
- Get Involved: Community centres thrive on local engagement. Whether you’re interested in joining a committee, volunteering for seasonal events, or taking on a board role, we welcome your involvement.
Thank you to all our staff, volunteers, and residents for making Whyte Ridge such a vibrant place to live. I look forward to seeing everyone around the centre this fall!
