Roles and responsibilities

Programing Manager (Year-Round) – The Programming Manager is responsible for developing seasonal schedules for youth soccer, mini-soccer, camps, and special events, while coordinating field, gym, and facility use with the community centre and city. They serve as a key point of contact for families regarding program-related inquiries and provide the Board with regular updates on program progress, challenges, and successes.

Soccer Director (Year-Round) – The Soccer Director (volunteer) represents the program on the Board of Directors and provides both leadership and technical oversight for all soccer activities. Other Duties include:

  • Volunteer & Program Management: Ensure there is a functional team of volunteers in place to run all soccer programs, including youth soccer, mini-soccer, and seasonal soccer camps.

  • Technical Leadership: Oversee the technical side of the program, including coach recruitment, training, mentorship, and support, as well as alignment of programming with Grassroots and league requirements.

  • Programming Oversight: Manage the structure and delivery of soccer programs, ensuring sessions and games follow appropriate player development standards and meet community needs.

  • Communication & Coordination: Act as the central point of contact between the Board, volunteers, coaches, parents, and soccer associations, ensuring consistent communication and effective coordination.

Soccer convener (Spring and Indoor) – This volunteer role is responsible to help with the registration for WYSA Youth League. Duties inlcude finding coaches, team formation, assignment of players, transfers, communication with parents and coaches.  s.

Mini-Soccer convener (March to June) – This Volunteer role operates the mini-soccer (ages 3-8) program in Whyte Ridge. The main responsibility is to make sure there is a functional team of volunteers needed to run the mini-soccer program(s). The mini-soccer director reports to the Soccer director and keeps track of the program’s expenses. The mini-soccer director may be required to attend internal meetings within the Whyte Ridge soccer team.
