President’s Message

by | May 17, 2022

Hello Whyte Ridge and Linden Ridge,

Summer is finally here! Spring brought many new things to Whyte Ridge Community Center: new windows were installed, work has started on new fencing around rinks, washrooms are being updated, and soon the exterior of our center will be patched and painted!

MP Terry Duguid, MLA Obby Khan, and Councillor Janice Lukes announced that with support from PrairiesCan through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund; the Province of Manitoba through the Canada Community Building Fund; and the City of Winnipeg through the Land Dedication Reserve Fund, a 3,000 square foot accessible spray pad will be built this summer at our centre. We are excited that the opening date will be Summer of 2023.

MLA Obby Khan and the Government of Manitoba are excited to announce that the WRCC has been awarded $59,982.00 through the Building Sustainable Communities Fund. With additional funding from Pembina Active Living 55+, Councillor Janice Lukes, and the Tire Stewardship Manitoba, the center’s kitchen will be updated, new flooring and painting in skate change area, the canteen will be updated and made accessible, the players boxes will be repaired and mats layed, and the asphalt in the paved rink will be repaired. Such exciting changes!

Our Sports and Recreational Camps still have some spots available as well as RDT Mini Soccer Camp.  If you need fun care for school aged children, please check these weeks out.

Volunteers! We are always looking for volunteers: the Board is currently looking for a Special Events Director, Programming/Activities Director, a House and Grounds Director, a Fundraising Director, and a Director At Large. If you are interested in volunteering but don’t want to be a Board member, you can!  Perhaps you only want to plan one event or get a class started. Just email president@whyteridge.ca

WRCC Board meetings are scheduled for the 2nd Monday of every month beginning at 7pm and we invite all community members to attend with ideas for our center or concerns.
