NEW TREES!
19 trees were planted last week at the WRCC, thanks to funding received from the Manitoba Hydro Forest Enhancement Program and the WRCC!! We have 2 new spruce trees right by the basketball court, 2 elm trees (resistant cultivars) and 1 Manitoba maple around the parking lot, 4 linden along the walking path by the west rink, 1 linden across from the playground, and 9 linden and Manitoba maples along the north walking path and around the north soccer pitch. These funds cover not only the planting, but also maintenance for 2 years. Thank you Manitoba Hydro #Manitobahydro
The aim of these trees is to contribute to carbon sequestering, reducing greenhouse gases, diversifying the green space with native trees, providing shade and a visual canopy for nearby homes and users of the space.
