Youth Community Engagement Coordinator

Position Summary

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a youth-focused role designed to bridge the gap between the WRCC and the local community. This individual will serve as the “voice” of the centre, driving financial sustainability through sponsorships while fostering a robust volunteer culture. The successful candidate will balance creative digital marketing with professional networking to ensure the WRCC remains a thriving community hub.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Advertising & Sponsorship (Revenue Generation)
  • Asset Mapping: Identify and package physical and digital assets within the centre, such as gym signage, event naming rights, and newsletter slots, into marketable sponsorship opportunities.
  • Pitching & Sales: Research local businesses and brands to pitch partnership opportunities that fund capital projects and operations.
  • Collateral Creation: Use tools like Canva Pro or Adobe Express to design high-end, persuasive sales decks and sponsorship proposals.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain communication with partners to ensure high renewal rates and accurate logo placement on all event materials.
  1. Digital Communication & Outreach
  • Social Media Management: Create and schedule engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) to promote centre activities.
  • Digital Signage: Manage the indoor and outdoor digital signage to ensure the community is informed of upcoming programs.
  • Public Inquiry Response: Serve as the primary point of contact for digital inquiries, ensuring a response time within one business day.
  1. Volunteer Management
  • Strategic Recruitment: Develop outreach strategies to attract a diverse volunteer base that meets the organizational needs of the WRCC.
  • Onboarding & Training: Help design orientation programs to educate volunteers on safety protocols, mission, and specific tasks.
  • Recognition Initiatives: Implement morale-boosting programs, such as “Volunteer of the Month,” to encourage long-term commitment.
  • Compliance: Assist in maintaining accurate records, including background checks and liability waivers, to meet legal and insurance requirements.
  1. Operational Support
  • Strategic Planning: Consult with internal stakeholders to define the human and financial resources needed for future project cycles.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Help establish mutually beneficial relationships with donors and various levels of government.
  • General Assistance: Provide ad hoc support to the General Manager and Board of Directors as needed to ensure smooth facility operations.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility: Must meet all Manitoba Urban Green Team criteria (typically youth aged 15–29).
  • Mindset: A “closer” mindset with a comfort for networking and securing financial commitments.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and design software (Canva, Adobe Express, or Illustrator).
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for professional pitching and community interaction.
  • Organization: Ability to manage administrative tasks with high diligence while juggling community-facing projects.
