Whyte Ridge Community Centre has been made aware of fraudulent emails and text messages circulating within our sports community.
Scammers are currently impersonating WRCC staff, board members, and coaches by using fake email addresses. They are sending urgent messages asking parents or volunteers to purchase gift cards (such as Apple Gift Cards) for fundraisers or events, promising to pay them back later.
Please Be Aware:
-
WRCC will NEVER ask you to purchase gift cards, send wire transfers, or provide personal financial information via email or text message.
-
Always check the sender’s actual email address (not just the displayed name). Official WRCC communications will only come from our verified domain, never from a generic Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook account.
-
If a message feels rushed or unusual, do not reply. Verify the request by contacting your coach or the WRCC office directly through your usual trusted phone number or email.
If you have received one of these messages, please mark it as spam/phishing and delete it. If you believe you have lost money to this scam, please report it immediately to the local authorities and notify the WRCC administration.
Thank you for helping us keep our community safe and secure!
