Are you an experienced event planner with a passion for bringing people together? Are you looking to broaden your experience as an event planner? Whyte Ridge Community Centre is looking for a Volunteer Special Events Director to join our Board of Directors and play a pivotal role in shaping and organizing impactful events for our community.
As the Special Events Director, you will have the opportunity to lead and coordinate a variety of events that enhance the sense of connection and engagement in our local community. This is an exciting leadership role for someone who is passionate about organizing meaningful events and making a lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of community events, including fundraisers, social gatherings, and special programs.
- Develop and implement event strategies aligned with the goals and mission of the community center.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure that events are well-executed, on-budget, and in line with community needs.
- Manage event timelines, resources, and volunteers, ensuring smooth operations.
- Cultivate relationships with local businesses, sponsors, and partners to support events and fundraising efforts.
- Oversee event promotion, marketing, and outreach to maximize participation and impact.
- Collaborate with other board members to ensure events are integrated into the overall programming of the community centre.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven experience in event planning, management, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creative problem-solving and a proactive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and engage the community.
- Previous experience in a volunteer or nonprofit environment is a plus but not necessary.
Time Commitment: This is a volunteer position with flexible hours, with a higher time commitment during event planning and execution periods. Required board meetings are held monthly, and you will also be involved in event-specific planning.
