President’s Message

by | May 10, 2025

My name is Kirill Pirgalin, and I’ve called this community home for more than a decade. Over that time, I’ve had the opportunity to get involved with the Whyte Ridge Community Centre in many different roles, including Communications Director, Programming Director, Soccer Director, and Vice President. This April, I was elected as President at our Annual General Meeting. This is a new chapter for me, and while the role is a big responsibility, I’m excited for what’s ahead, especially with such a strong, supportive team of volunteers.

As the newly elected President, I’d like to share the steps we’re taking this year to strengthen our community centre and the experiences it offers to residents of all ages. Our initial focus is on building a stronger, more connected team with a clearer understanding of roles and responsibilities. This will create a more supportive and collaborative environment for everyone involved.

In the coming months, we’ll focus on getting more members involved in programs and events, growing our volunteer base, and taking a closer look at our finances. Looking further ahead, we’ll begin developing a refreshed brand identity to better reflect who we are and where we’re going. We will also establish an annual operational review process to guide future planning and support our amazing volunteers.

Together with the board, staff, and our community, I’m confident we can build a stronger, more inclusive, and vibrant centre – one that continues to grow with and for the people it serves.

I also want to encourage everyone to consider volunteering for a good cause. Whether you become an activity leader, coach, board member, or help out as a casual volunteer, your time and effort truly make a difference. Volunteering is one of the best ways to strengthen our community and build meaningful connections with others. Kirill Pirgalin,
President of the Whyte Ridge Community Centre
