As part of the city’s sesquicentennial celebrations, 150 Winnipeggers were honoured with the prestigious Winnipeg 150 Medal for their exceptional contributions to their communities. Among the talented and dedicated recipients was our very own Kirill Pirgalin, recognized for his commitment to the Whyte Ridge community over the past nine years.
Kirill’s hard work in organizing and supporting local soccer, badminton, and volleyball programs has made a lasting impact on many in our neighborhood. He received his medal from City Councillor Janice Lukes, who presented the award at a special ceremony attended by his family and friends.
In addition to the beautifully designed Winnipeg 150 Medal, each honoree received a certificate signed by Mayor Scott Gillingham, and a tree will be planted in their name in a city park—an enduring symbol of their contributions to Winnipeg’s future.
Mayor Gillingham emphasized the importance of recognizing those who give back to the community, saying, “These recipients represent what makes Winnipeg special—people who give their time and energy to build a future for all of us.”
The city received nearly 600 nominations, making this recognition even more special for Kirill and the other deserving recipients. We are proud to see Kirill’s dedication to our community celebrated in such a meaningful way!
